What is here-and-now consciousness? What is contraction of here-and-now consciousness?<\/p>\n

We use the term here-and-now <\/em>synonymously with the term real-time. Real-time consciousness is knowledge of events in the here-and-now. Contraction of real-time consciousness would be the removal of one’s knowledge of events in the here-and-now to a knowledge of events out-of-real-time.<\/p>\n

Can man at all conceptualize these concepts, or are they total abstractions? Man has indeed been given some inkling into the concepts of real-time and non-real-time knowledge, although one should not hasten to equate man’s range of knowledge with the Deity’s. Rather, one can attempt to draw some rough parallels in order to grasp the basic concepts.<\/p>\n

The specific concept of real-time consciousness as juxtaposed to non-real-time consciousness has attained a concreteness in modern times. As a result of twentieth-century physics and an increased understanding of the speed of light’s impact on<\/p>\n

perception, man has accepted the idea that human perception of time funct.ions simultaneously on several different levels.<\/p>\n

For instance, when we gaze at the stars, what we see is that which existed X light years ago. What we see may no longer exist when we see it. What we do not see may indeed now exist. Man views the heavens in a state of non-real-time consciousness.<\/p>\n

Thus, even mortals have practical experience with concepts of real-time and non-real-time observation. This is not meant to imply that the Deity’s knowledge levels are the same as man’s. In fact we presume both a qualitative and a quantitative difference. The illustration of man’s perception of the stars is merely to give one possible example of non-real-time knowledge experienced on a mortal level on a daily basis.<\/p>\n
