\nTo the extent that it keeps iterating infinitely outward and onward, it self\u00e2\u20ac\u201ccharges and perpetuates its power. Another way of looking at this is always assuming Q4P to mean Q4P to the power\u00e2\u20ac\u201cof\u00e2\u20ac\u201cinfinity<\/p>\n

But what does that mean?<\/p>\n

It really means infinite recursiveness,
\ntracking forward to the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153end of time\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

~Example 1: like those painted doll\u00e2\u20ac\u201cwithin\u00e2\u20ac\u201ca\u00e2\u20ac\u201cdoll Russian or Chinese dolls, where there is yet ANOTHER (smaller) doll within<\/p>\n

~Example 2: an ONION\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 where there is inevitably yet another (smaller) layer

3<\/sup> Leverage A: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Leveraged Buyout\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is a term from finance. It refers to a case in which a financier buys a company using future earnings as the collateral. For instance, a financier might offer to pay $1 million dollars a year for ten years to buy a company. And where, does he plan to get the million dollars per year? From the future projected earnings of the company\u00e2\u20ac\u201d of $1.5million dollars a year. The financier essentially buys the company using the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s own future earnings (i.e. He buys the company with the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s own potential). Birnbaum is positing throughout Summa Metaphysica that the original \u00e2\u20ac\u0153leveraged buyout\u00e2\u20ac\u009d concept was cosmic. The cosmos was created, he hypothesizes, out of the cosmos\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 own potential.<\/p>\n

4<\/sup> Leverage B: Plato had infused in Western philosophy that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153God\u00e2\u20ac\u009d created the universe out of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcprimal matter\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 even though Plato never articulates just where this primal matter came from\u00e2\u20ac\u201d just as he never explicates where \u00e2\u20ac\u009dGod\u00e2\u20ac\u009d came from. Platonic thought\u00e2\u20ac\u201d and, indeed, all Western philosophical thought\u00e2\u20ac\u201d including classic Jewish philosophy\u00e2\u20ac\u201d is linear, i.e. A created B created C, etc.<\/p>\n

Birnbaum\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s paradigm, on the other hand, is \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcbootstrap\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, i.e. the potential of A ignites A retroactively. The Torah Itself has a one\u00e2\u20ac\u201cphrase all\u00e2\u20ac\u201cencompassing treatise on Jewish philosophy: “Eheyeh Asher Eheyeh”<\/em>. This is Potential within Potential within Potential, which Birnbaum seizes upon as the crux of Summa Metaphysica.<\/p>\n

5<\/sup> Leverage C: A classic theme in Jewish thought is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153yesh mai\u00e2\u20ac\u201cayen,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the creation of somethingness, from nothingness. This \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcmagic trick\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 receives an elegant ‘makeover’ in Birnbaum\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s “leverage buyout” theme, namely that potentials down\u00e2\u20ac\u201cthe\u00e2\u20ac\u201croad ignited the cosmos. Now, finance is not cosmology\u00e2\u20ac\u201d and cosmology is not finance, but the “leveraged buyout” theme can indeed be applied to both. Indeed, there is a 1:1 parallel between the two.<\/p>\n
